Tembeca began with three guides and a shared frustration: travellers were arriving in East Africa with itineraries written by people who had never walked the trails on them.

We work from Kigali, Nairobi and Arusha. We design a small number of journeys each year, always in conversation, never through a booking engine. If a week does not work, we say so.

Our permits, conservancy fees and community partnerships are auditable, and we are happy to walk you through exactly where the money goes on any journey we propose.
